BEFORE THE SESSION
My passion is creating a lovely gallery of images that you can choose from. I never schedule more than one session per day so that I’m able to work at your baby’s pace. You’re welcome to feed, change and hold your baby as much as you both need. I’m a mum myself, and I know how hard it is to get up and out on those earlier days, so that’s why I come to you, home session is a mix of lifestyle and posed images... Pop your feet up and relax with a cup of tea while I capture your baby’s first moments.
Or if you are like me and dread the thought of anyone coming to your home when you are welcome to come to my beautiful studio for a more posed and styled photography session, where you can take advantage of all the lovely props I have to use in your session and not to mention the amazing rustic wooden floors!
If your kiddies are a little older let's head outside on an adventure! Or come to the studio for a more styled session where we can create a fabulous theme for your milestone/cake smash.
The choice is yours.
xoxo

AFTER THE SESSION

This where the magic happens, I will go away and edit your beautiful portraits into a fabulous collection. So basically, when I say editing what I mean is I will choose the best images to go in the final selection, trust me you won’t want to sit and view 100 images of dad blinking. I have many years of experience in choosing these images, and I’ll show you only the best of the best, I promise.
I do a small amount of retouching, i.e. small blemishes, however, babies are born natural, and this will be reflected in the final images, I love the flaky skin of a newborn so I’ll be keeping it.
When your proofs ready to be viewed, I will contact you to arrange a viewing and ordering appointment.
You can then select the images that you would like, and only the photos you want!
Collections can take up to 2-3 weeks to edit, so please be patient while your images are being worked on, I’m adding a lovely Lux signature style to your pictures making them one of a kind.
Online viewing appointments are for 2 hours only. We will book a time that suits you.Collections need to be selected and paid for within these two hours.
From experience clients chose there collections in about an hour, the record time once was 10 minutes!
You will NOT get any pushy salesman act from me. Just buy what you love, and I’ll be there to hold your hand and guide you on what looks great, and help you feel at ease!
“What a wonderful experience. We worried our newborn wouldn’t settle but Ellie was wonderful with him- there was no pressure at any point to hurry things along. She had a fantastic way with him and with us, and the studio is just perfect …"

Here you can see a behind the scene edit of an image. I edit around 25-30 images for your gallery.
Every photographer’s editing style is different, I would recommend you have had you a good look at the gallery to get a feel of what kind of images to expect from your session

Here's a little behind the scene video of a Little baby session. It was so much fun. Six months is a great time to get your baby photographed as they are of such lovely expressions and full of personality

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
As long as you and your baby are in good health and are passed the 20-week you can go right ahead and book your newborn baby photography session.
I recommend booking at this early date as it gives you time to think about and prepare for professional photography. I make tentative bookings that are based on your due date and arrival home with your bundle of joy so you don’t have to worry if there need to be changes or adjustments to our sessions. Whenever you’re ready to go ahead, we can discuss all the details and arrange an appropriate day for your little one’s time in the spotlight.
Newborn photography sessions are best undertaken in the first three weeks of there arrival. This is beacuse baby is still accustomed to the womb position and still sleep alot. Although this is only a guideline. Newborns can be photographed at any time, even when awake. It just means the final out come of your images maybe different.
If your little one is a preemie they’re in good hands, as although I would attempt to photograph them before the three-week mark, it will largely depend on weight and health.
I may suggest we reschedule for a later date. This is to ensure you are both as comfortable as possible. I will never turn away and older new born so please get in touch .Newborn sessions are around three hours long.
During booking, I will find out your colour preferences and the style you want for the session. I will also explain how to prepare both you and your baby for the upcoming shoot. I will send out a prepguide to clarify what colour palette will work best in your home.
This part is easy, as many of the items used during sessions are everyday items your baby uses or plays with. For example, your sweetheart’s first teddy, blanket etc, are very welcome at the session and I will try my best to incorporate them in the photos.
Other items to think about if we are shooting on location:
– Plenty of nappies
– Bottles and milk (if bottle-fed)
– Dummy/ Pacifier ( I recommend bringing one even if your baby doesn’t generally use them, just in case we can’t calm your baby with other methods. However, don’t worry about it if you’d rather not use one)
I welcome you to share any examples of images you like but don't forget to look at examples of my current work on my website, so you know what style to expect.
Photographer have different styles that can not always be repliacted. I have my own style.
Only fully edited images are available for clients. Raw files & unedited images will not be available, this is not negotiable
Raw files are basically a file of information and data that has not yet been processed. I shoot in Raw format so that as a photographer I have complete control over the final image. A program is required to process the images.
It may get very warm during sessions so that babies are cosy while naked. I would suggest wearing layers in case you get too hot and where possible, choose neutral-coloured outfits with no pattern. Therefore the main focus isn’t taken away from your baby. Note: I willl send you a prep guide to help with this.
We will have a general chat either by email or phone about your colour preferences and creative needs. Please let me know at this point if you have any requests.
Sessions can last up to 60 minutes. These sessions are a lot more energetic. I never want to force children to smile. I hope to photograph them naturally.
Kids will be kids and they will pull those funny faces but I say let’s embrace them and have some fun! However, if they’re really not happy, don’t panic. Little people are unpredictable, and we can re-schedule at no extra cost. Please feel free to arrange a change of outfit for everyone involved and keep outfits simple, solid colours with no logos. Children will be photographed with bare feet, so avoid tights if possible.
I’m happy to take shots with mum and dad too along with siblings, however, this may take extra time so please allow for this.
I use white noise which reminds babies of their time in the womb so this is not generally an issue and helps with settling the baby down. To relax older children I will allow them to play and ease into the session. Although rare, if your baby just doesn’t feel like sleeping or older child does not calm down, we can simply reschedule for another time at no extra cost.
A £99 deposit is required to secure your session date. The £99 will be deducted from any purchases made, once your final collection of portraits are ready.
The session date will ONLY be secured once the deposit has been paid. Dates given can only be held for 24hrs.
Sessions are available either at my studio or on location. I offer a limited amount of mobile sessions, there is an extra fee of £50 for this service. Excluding lifestyle.
Please check you are happy with all pricing and packages before booking. PRICES ARE NON-NEGOTIABLE. If you have any questions, please ask. I’m here to help!

EDUCATION AND TRAINING
I recommend booking your photography session whenever you're ready to go ahead; we can discuss all the details and arrange an appropriate time. Sessions do fill up quickly towards the summer months, so don't leave it last minute. Around 2-3 months in advance will give users enough time to arrange a cool location and sort out some super cute outfits.

You can book a lifestyle session for your family whenever you like, there is no age restriction for this session.
I would however book a month in advance so we have time plan your session and make sure everyone feels ready.
A lifestyle session is all bout capturing you and your family in there natural environment. We’ll have a pre-session consultation to go over what daily activities you would like to plan for your lifestyle session. We will also go over any questions you have.

As a general rule of thumb, I like to schedule the cake smash session 3-4 weeks prior to their birthday. If you are using the pictures for invitations or to decorate with at the party this will give us plenty of time to find a great day that works well for both of us and to have enough time to get the pictures back in time before your little one’s birthday.

I come to your home, with me I will bring a fully functioning studio set up will all the equipment needed.
Each session is uniquely styled for your baby, through the use of props, blankets and head wear. Each setup is created to reflect your colour preferences, creating timeless images for you to treasure. I will bring all this with me on the day. So you can sit back and relax.

A session can take place in your home or at a special local place that has meaning to you.
Each session is uniquely designed for you and your family. Its great to plan an activity you can do at home that will enage your children. Such as baking or painting.
For newborns or young babies the session is really relaxed, I come and capture you spending time with your new baby.

For cake smash sessions, I will require enough space to set up. I will need a hard floor, so a kitchen or dining room works well. Space permitting. I will ask to send me a snapshot of your space upon booking to make sure we can go ahead.
If I feel space will not work, I can hire a studio space for a couple of hours at a very small charge.

Newborn photography sessions are best in the first three weeks of the babies life. The reason for this is pretty cute as the baby is still accustomed to the womb position. This can result in adorable baby portraits you won’t be able to get enough of. Newborn sessions are up to three hours long, this is so we can take breaks if baby need too.
However, I will never turn away an older baby for a newborn for a session. I am very experienced in photographing older babies and can still create wonderful images for you, please still get in touch.
Currently there is no offical qalifactions for newborn photography, however, over the years I have trainned with some amazing photographers.

We will discuss together what time is best to hold your session, it is best to work around your litlle ones naps and feeds so they are feeling their best;
I like to book outdoor sessions, so they start about an hour before sunset. The light is beautiful at this time as it all golden and pretty. However, the sunset does change throughout the year, so start time depends on the date of your session. I like to keep the session fun and fast-paced, so children don't get bored and lose interest, I will try to keep the photography time to around 1 hour, but please arrive 15 minutes early.

At least four outfits for the cake smash session is a good number to sort out. I like to always have at least two for variety's sake. You will need at least one outfit for the before the cake pictures. If you don’t want them to get cake all over that outfit you will need a separate outfit for them to wear while they are eating their cake. I always recommend bringing a backup outfit in case of any accidents and they need to change. You will need an outfit for them to wear once they are all cleaned up and the session is finished.

Please don't panic if the sun isn't shining, families often worry when its cloudy or overcast that the weather is bad for photos. Over cast is actually perfect for flattering light on faces, the last thing we want is harsh, dramatic shadows all over the place. We will, however, keep our eyes on the forecast if there's a high chance of rain. In this instance, we will try and reschedule for another time.
Please don’t feel nervous about how your photography session may go or how your baby will be on the day. If for any reason your little one is too upset or unsettled for their session, we will discuss rescheduling for another day. The last thing for me to want to do is to capture your baby, not at their best.

I will bring with me a selection of props and outfits for baby to be photographed in either on location or on the photography backdrop in your home depending on what session you chose to go with. However, I like to start the session photographing baby in their own clothes, so I recommend organising an outfit or two. Things to consider when choosing what to wear are making sure that the outfit is coordinated and doesn’t clash, will it look nice long the decor you have in your home? I would try and avoid clothing that has large prints, checkered patterns or obvious logos.
It’s a good idea to try and work out your outfits a least a week before your babies photography session, this will help you to feel prepared for your session. I suggest laying them out on a bed and taking a step back. If your happy make sure they are clean and wrinkle-free.
Only fully edited images are available for clients. Raw files & unedited images will not be available, this is not negotiable

During our initial consultation, we can discuss the props I have available and what you'd be interested in using during our shoot. For example, I have various backdrops, blankets, baskets and other items. I am also 100% open to you bringing your own props. In fact, I love it when parents have their own props! After all, using something special of the child's may prove more meaningful to you.
